Connect Speedi to your AI assistant
Speedi publishes an MCP server, so an AI assistant can answer a question no search engine can: who is actually free right now. It is free, read-only, and needs no account or API key.
https://www.speedi.co.uk/mcpStreamable HTTP · no authentication · listed in the official MCP registry as uk.co.speedi/availability
How to connect it
In Claude — desktop, web or mobile — open Settings → Connectors, choose Add custom connector, name it Speedi and paste the URL above. Leave the advanced settings empty: there is nothing to authenticate. Two tools should appear.
Connectors added this way are held against your account, so once it is on, it works on every device you are signed into. Other MCP-capable assistants take the same URL wherever they accept a remote server.
Tool descriptions are read when a conversation starts, so if you connect it mid-chat, open a new one.
What to ask it
Anything of the shape “I need a ___ in ___”. The second blank is where the work is, which is often not where you are — a property you manage, a client, a relative.
- “Find me a plumber who’s free right now near PR6 8BZ”
- “I manage a let in Blackburn and the tenant has no heating — who can go today?”
- “I need a concierge in Ibiza”
- “Is Good Days Barbers free this afternoon?”
What the answers mean
Speedi is not a directory. Every business sets its own light — green free now, amber free shortly, red busy — and it expires on a timer. That is the part that makes it worth anything: a green light means they said so in the last couple of hours, not that they once claimed to be open 24/7.
Each result also says who set the light. Only verified: true means the business itself set it, from their own app or dashboard. Anything else means Speedi cannot confirm them as free — which is a statement about what Speedi knows, and never a judgement about the business.
You get the businesses that are on Speedi in that area, and two things the web cannot offer: post the job to Yori, Speedi’s assistant, and every matching provider nearby is alerted at once with the first to accept taking it — or ask to be told the moment a particular business goes green, cancellations included.
The tools
find_available_providersread-onlyFinds people who can do a job in a named place, and says which of them are actually free right now.
- trade
- What is wanted, in plain words — “plumber”, “concierge”, “airport transfer”, “cleaner”. Optional; omit to see everyone.
- postcode
- Where the work is — a UK postcode or outcode (“PR6 8BZ”, “PR6”) or a place name (“Ibiza”). Not where you are.
- lat / lng
- Coordinates, if you have them instead of a postcode.
- radiusMiles
- Search radius. Defaults to 10, capped at 50.
check_provider_availabilityread-onlyChecks whether one named business is free right now, and when they last set their light.
- name
- The business name, or part of it.
- postcode
- Where to look. Optional.
Neither tool writes anything, contacts anyone or shares a customer’s details. Contact happens on Speedi, where the provider chooses to accept.
Coverage
Speedi operates across the UK and is densest in Lancashire — Preston, Chorley, Blackburn and Burnley — with smaller presences in Ibiza, Pattaya, Dubai and Las Vegas. Outside those areas you will often get an honest “nobody here” rather than a result, and the connector says so plainly instead of inventing names.
Availability is a live figure and a small one: it reflects the businesses who have set a light in the last couple of hours, not everyone signed up. That is the honest state of a network being built, and we would rather you saw it than were told otherwise.
If you run a business
This is how customers will start finding people: by asking an assistant who is free, not by scrolling a list. Only businesses that set their own light appear in that answer — so the way in is to be on Speedi and tap green when you are free.
