Cleaner available today? How to find one same day
Guests at six, an end of tenancy tomorrow, or it has just got away from you. Finding a cleaner who is free today is not about finding a cleaner — it is about finding out who has a gap.
Needing a cleaner today is a different problem from needing a cleaner.
There are plenty of cleaners. Most of them are good, and most of them are booked — a regular cleaner's week is full of regulars, and that is exactly why they are good. So "find me a cleaner" is easy, and "find me a cleaner who can come this afternoon" is the bit that eats the morning.
Why ringing round doesn't work for same day
A cleaner is usually mid-clean when the phone goes. Hands full, hoover running, phone in a bag. They see the missed call at half twelve, ring back at one, and by then you have left three voicemails with three other people and nobody has actually said yes.
It is not that nobody was free. It is that nobody could tell you they were free at the moment you asked.
What you actually need to know
Two things, and only two:
- Who has a gap today. Not who is good, not who is cheapest — who can physically come.
- Whether that is still true. A "yes I'm free" from yesterday is worth nothing today.
A directory tells you neither. A booking site tells you slots somebody set up weeks ago. What helps is the cleaner saying, in the moment, "I've got a gap".
How that works on Speedi

Say what you need once. Describe the job and it goes to every cleaner nearby at the same time. Whoever can do it takes it, and you get their number — no ringing round.

Before they arrive
A same-day clean goes faster, and costs less, if you've sorted three things:
- Say what kind of clean. A regular tidy, a deep clean and an end of tenancy are three different jobs and three different prices. Say which up front.
- Products and kit. Some cleaners bring everything, some use yours. Ask, so nobody turns up without a hoover.
- Access and pets. Where the key is, whether anyone is in, and whether the dog is friendly.
The short version
Don't ring round hoping someone is free. Look at who said they're free today, message one direct, and if nobody is, put the job out once and let the first free cleaner come to you.
