Speedi is an extension to your business — not a replacement for what already works
Your regulars, your van signage, your WhatsApp group, your word of mouth — Speedi doesn't touch any of that. It just gives you a way to fill the gaps in the diary when nothing else has.
The first question we get from experienced tradespeople and service providers when we explain Speedi is basically always the same:
"So am I meant to give up my regulars?"
No. Absolutely not. We'd tell you if we thought you should.
What Speedi doesn't do
Speedi isn't trying to replace how you already run your business.
- Your regulars who ring you direct? Nothing changes. Your relationship with them is yours. Speedi never touches it, never charges you a lead fee for a customer you already had.
- Your word of mouth and referrals from other trades? Keep flowing. That's still the best-quality work you'll ever get, and always will be.
- Your van signage, business cards, socials, local Facebook group presence? All still working for you exactly as before.
- Your existing directory listings — Checkatrade, Rated People, whatever else you're on? We're not asking you to leave them. Stay on them if they're bringing you work.
- Your prices, your terms, your process? All yours. Speedi doesn't get in the middle of your quote or take a slice of what you charge.
We're not here to be the only way you get jobs. We're here to be one more channel — the one that specifically solves the problem of filling the gaps.
What Speedi actually is
Speedi is a live-availability layer. When you're free — genuinely free, van packed, ready to work — you flip yourself green on the map and local customers can see you. When you're busy, mid-job, or done for the day, you flip yourself off and you're invisible. That's it.
The whole product is designed around one specific moment: the customer needing someone right now, and you happening to be free right now. That's when we're useful. The rest of the time you're doing what you were always doing.
Why "an extension" is the right word for it
Think about the diary of a typical week for a busy tradesperson:
- 70% of it is filled with pre-booked jobs — the boilers, kitchens, extensions, regular service work that came in through your usual channels.
- 20% is jobs that pop in unexpectedly during the week from repeat customers or referrals.
- The last 10% is dead space — a customer cancelled, a job wrapped up two hours early, a rainy day where the outdoor bit can't be started.
That last 10% is normally wasted. It's not worth marketing spend, it's too short-notice for a directory enquiry, and by the time you've replied to a lead-gen form the customer's already booked someone else.
Speedi is for that 10%. You go green when you've got the gap, someone local sees you're free, they call. Job done, cash in hand, and you didn't need to change anything else about how you run your business to make it happen.
No commission means the maths always works
The reason we can honestly call ourselves an extension — and not a subtle replacement in disguise — is that we don't take a commission on the work you win through Speedi.
Directories and lead-gen platforms have a structural incentive to make themselves the middle of your customer relationships, because that's where their money is. Ours isn't. You buy credits when you accept a job, you keep the whole invoice, the customer's yours after the first job (repeat work never touches us). If they need you again next month, they ring you direct. That's how it should be.
That structure means adding Speedi to your business is genuinely additive — it doesn't eat into what you already have. If it brings you one extra job a week, that's one extra job. If it brings you none in a quiet week, it cost you nothing.
What we ask from you
We don't ask you to change how you work. What we do ask is that when you're on the map showing green, you're actually free — that's the whole trust of the product. If everyone's honest about their availability, customers get real answers instead of the "someone will call you back" runaround they get everywhere else.
That's the deal. You control when you're visible, you keep everything you already had, and Speedi is there as a switch you can flip in the gaps.
An extension. Not a replacement.
